Thanksgiving Table Ideas

I decided to decorate both our kitchen table and our dinning room table this year just because I can!  I am so excited and thankful to be able to do things around the house again (all by myself) that I am kind of making up for lost time! (see profile for full story) We have a dining room table that is a little more formal than our kitchen table so I used our wedding china to set that table and our everyday china to set the kitchen table. After taking pictures, I realized that the kitchen table may look a little more formal than the dining room table!? Oh well! Here are pictures of both. You be the judge…

The wine cork place card holders were a fun, easy project that my friend Margo and I did during Hurricane Gustav. I had a bunch of leftover wine corks laying around the house so we just took a razor blade to them, cut a slit in the top, and you have a place card holder! The place cards were a wedding gift that I glued a piece of wheat to. I saw this idea on Pinterest via this blog called “Cottage and Vine” and loved it!!! The pheasant feathers are from Hobby Lobby. The plates are Vera Wang Guilded Weave China from Bed Bath & Beyond. The turkey napkins are from the Crate & Barrel Outlet Store in Dallas, TX.

I found these burlap charger plates (underneath our china) at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 each!

The table runner is also from the Crate & Barrel Outlet Store in Dallas, TX.   The deer sheds are part of a centerpiece I made myself from various Fall decor.  You can read more about it here.

And here is the more casual kitchen table….
This is the centerpiece I started with. My husband helped me cut down these beautiful Fall leaves from the woods behind our house! I put them in a silver ice bucket that belonged to his grandfather. The leaves only lasted about 12 hours before they started to die. So, if you want a lively looking centerpiece made from real leaves, don’t cut them from the tree until a few hours before your company arrives.
I also found these gray charger plates from Hobby Lobby for $1.99! The white plates are from the Pottery Barn Caterer’s Box Collection.
A piece of cotton inside each silver plated napkin ring from Pottery Barn.  I love to decorate with cotton! It’s so pretty and reminds me of the harvest season.

A close up of the leaves in the centerpiece. I LOVE FALL LEAVES!!!!

Decorating our tables got me excited for Turkey Day!
Remember, when life hands you lemons, turn them into something lovely!
