If you are joining me from, Maison De Pax, how amazing is Rachel’s back patio??? I would never come inside if that were my backyard! If you missed it, you can see it here.
Down here in South Louisiana, Spring decided to arrive in early February. We had an abnormally warm winter, and while I was disappointed around Christmas time, I could not be happier about the weather now that the holidays are over! I absolutely love being able to open all of the windows in our house and let the sunlight pour in through every single angle! It makes me want to wake up early and get more done!
What do you like best about Spring?
Other than all of the pretty sunlight, I get excited about Spring cleaning!!!
This year I decided to participate in the “40 in 40” challenge where every day, starting March 1st (the first day of Lent) and continuing on for the next 40 days, I am committed to donating 1 bag filled with items that we no longer need. The first day I think I donated 8 bags? LOL. It’s amazing when you get into a routine of cleaning how fast you realize what is truly necessary and what is not. I’m starting to realize that about 1/4 of what we own is not necessary.
This year, one of my New Years goals was to hold on to less, donate more, and buy/keep only what truly brings me joy! (Thank you Mari Kondo) We are busting at the seems in our home and there is just no reason for that! I want to become more organized and more of a minimalist. (yikes I just used the M word and I’m a home decor enthusiast!)
Anyways, some other big changes are taking place that sparked this wave of massive purging…..
WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!
Yup, another little human will be taking up space in our house so we have had to make some major changes in terms of room assignments and furniture arrangement. This new change couldn’t have come at a better time because it gave me a jump start on my Spring cleaning and decorating!
I hope you enjoy these Spring touches I have to share with you today. Come on in and let me show you around…
Living Room Mantel
I totally changed our mantel decor around, as I do for each season. This Spring I wanted to keep it light, bright, and very simple. Ofcourse the elk horns, now nicknamed the “mantlers” are here to stay! Full source list included below…

Easter Brunch Table
My favorite part about Easter is brunch!
Ya I know I’m probably suppose to say going to church, getting together with family, seeing my son’s eyes light up when he sees the Easter bunny, celebrating the ressurection of our Savior, but no I’m going to be totally honest and tell you that my favorite part about Easter…..is brunch!
I love brunch in general but you know restaurants go all out when it comes to Easter brunch! So I decided to set up a little Easter brunch spread of my own. Take a look. Source list below….
What’s a holiday without a chalkboard download from Dear Lille!?! I love this new one for Easter. It was so easy and inexpensive to download directly from her website and have printed at Office Depot for less than $3!
I LOVE these new coffee mugs and bowls I got from hayneedle.com!!! They are SO pretty and very affordable. One of my Spring cleaning goals was to replace all of our old mismatched coffee mugs and find some solid white, beautiful mugs as replacements. This Strawberry Street set of 6 mugs and 10 bowls was perfect! Direct link in source list below…

New Desk Area
So with the new addition to our family comes a very creative game of musical rooms. Our old office/craft room is now going to be the nursery which means I needed to find a new workspace. Also, the glider/rocker from my Prayer Corner (if you missed that post click here) in our Master Bedroom had to go into the nursery, soooooo, that left the Prayer Corner open for a new desk/small office space.
I found THE PERFECT desk for this space at hayneedle.com ! It was super easy to put together and doesn’t intrude into our bedroom.
I’m totally in love with my new office space…

Toddler’s “Big Boy” Room
So last but not least, it was time to update my son’s room from a nursery to a “big boy” room. Not only is he of the age where he’s starting to take more pride in “his” room, but I had to remove a lot of the baby things (art on the walls and changing table/dresser) to use in the new nursery. So I thought, why not pull the bandaid off all at once and get him a new bed, bedding, wall art, and dresser system for his closet.
Today I’m going to show you how I updated the room with a new bed, bedding, and wall art. I’ll have another post soon about how I revamped his closet storage system.
I wanted to stick with the gray/blue theme that he started with in his nursery but I added some more mature touches by incorporating navy and a darker blue. He is obsessed with every thing that his Daddy does so I knew he would love to have some animal horn silhouettes, fish, and nautical elements in his new big boy room….
