How to Paint Cinderella Pumpkins
DIY Fall Window Box For Your Door
Today I have an easy Fall decor craft project for you that I completed recently and shared in my Instagram stories….
In case you missed it, my son and I painted pumpkins!
It’s been a WHILE since I’ve purchased real pumpkins. Over the past few years, I’ve really gotten into collecting faux pumpkins because they last forever, are very affordable, and look so close to the real thing. But this year I got the urge to take my little boy to the store and pick out real pumpkins together. It was SO fun! I got him 2 little “baking pumpkins” for him to paint himself and 3 big, chunky pumpkins for me. My plan was to paint them all together one Saturday morning and that’s exactly what we did!
I gave him a paint brush and some Crayola paint and he went to town! Meanwhile, I was determined to paint my pumpkins to look like cinderella/heirloom pumpkins following this tutorial I found on Pinterest… (sidenote, are we following each other on Pinterest? If not click here)
To read the full tutorial, click here. Basically, you are suppose to use 1 coat of white paint as a primer and then 1-2 coats of a paint color that is similar to mint/light greenish blue diluted with water to a wash-like consistency. Sounds complicated, but it was actually very easy!
Here is a picture of what my pumpkins looked like before…
And this is what they look like now…
I plan to do my own tutorial explaining the steps I took and the materials I used later next week. SO thrilled with the way they turned out!!
In the mean time, here are some pictures of all 3 of the painted pumpkins I’ve styled on my sideboard in the entryway. I thought they looked so pretty mixed in with some squash and light orange heirloom pumpkins I found at the grocery store…
Notice anything funny about the sideboard!?! NO KNOBS! I got sick of the hardware it came with and still haven’t found a good replacement. I enlisted the help of my friend and talented Interior Designer Angeline at Angeline Guido Design to help me find some pretty hardware for this old piece. She was able to photoshop some options on for me to help me decide before I purchase. What do you think….
LOVE what she picked out and look what an amazing job she did! eDesign is a part of the many services she offers.
I really enjoyed getting to paint them with my little boy and I am thrilled with the finished product! I think we will make painting pumpkins a new Fall tradition!
