HomeGoods is a honeypot full of beautiful home decor treasures at bargain prices!  Read on for 11 secrets on how to get the best deals and score the greatest finds at HomeGoods!

HomeGoods is my home away from home.  If you are just finding my blog, I go to HomeGoods once a week and share all of my finds with you in my Instagram stories.  You can only imagine how excited I am to share my shopping secrets with you today!  Some of my most favorite HomeGoods finds are accessories in my daughter’s nursery and in my son’s new room!

Let’s start with the basics of how I like to shop at HomeGoods and then I’ll break it down by department…

Shopping at HomeGoods

 Pro Tips:

  • Ask your local HomeGoods manager what day/s of the week they receive their trucks with new inventory.  Then ask when they unload and restock their shelves.  Plan to go shopping a few hours after they finish restocking that day so that all the new merchandise is out! I can almost guarantee you though, the best time to shop is going to be during the day, on a weekday.  Less people, more inventory.  Weekends can get very crowded!
  • Download the HomeGoods app here to see items as they are added to the floor of your local store
  • Check hours and make sure you get there right when they open or before they close if restocks are done in the afternoons.
  • Use the signs hanging above to navigate your store and find the department you need for faster shopping.
  • Have a plan of attack for navigating the store before you go in.  See below…

The order of departments I like to shop in….

1. Lamps
I go straight to the lamps because they get swooped up so fast! Also, when looking for lamps, I rarely ever need just 1 so I want to make sure I can get 2 of whatever I find before some other shopper steals one of them and I can’t complete the set. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me.  However, if it should happen to you, you can always ask the manager to scan the barcode on any lamp and look for a match at another store in your area.

  1. Mirrors
I have almost duked it out over mirrors with another shopper before. You have to be quick and focused when browsing for mirrors at HomeGoods. In my experience over the last few years, I’ve noticed that home builders like to hoard mirrors at HomeGoods for their new construction bathrooms to save on cost.  HomeGoods really does have the best looking mirrors at the best prices so you have to jump on them fast! If you are a home builder or work for one and you are reading this, get your tushy to HomeGoods but bring your boxing gloves with you!

  1. Art                                                                                                                                                                                                Great for playrooms, living rooms, and hallways. Tons of different sizes, colors, frames etc.  I’ve found some really pretty pieces of art for our home at HomeGoods that look expensive but so didn’t pay more than $40 for!

  1. Pillows & Throw Blankets
I can ALWAYS find a pillow during every single HomeGoods shopping trip, whether I need it or not. Again, rarely do I ever need just 1 pillow so I always try to hit up the pillow section within the first few minutes I’m there so I can be sure to secure a set of 2 or more. Then I drift over to the throw blankets and browse this section for a matching blanket to pair with my new pillows. Throw blankets also make a great gift!

  1. Furniture
HomeGoods has great furniture!! However, this can be hit or miss depending on inventory that day so you have to constantly go back and browse to find what you’re looking for. They have desks, benches, chairs, sofas, sideboards, end tables, shelves, and the list goes on and on!  Also, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, don’t be afraid to ask for a discount on a furniture item if you see that it has a scratch or a ding in it.  You can expect atleast a 10% discount on items like this.

6. Accessories, Frames, & Potted Plants                                                                                                                                       HomeGoods has THE BEST accessories for every room! Lots of different styles, colors, textures, sizes, and they are usually available in multiple quantities. I like to shop for these items in between the departments I mentioned above. They are usually spread out throughout the store and can easily be tossed into my cart on a whim when I see something I cannot live without!  HomeGoods is my go-to place when I need accessories for shelf styling!!!!  I can decorate an entire wall of shelves with just accessories from HomeGoods alone!

  1. Kids stuff
This is the section where I find the best looking baskets! Tons of great ideas for toy storage for kids rooms and playrooms in this section! I also like to browse the kid’s section for baby gifts. I’ve purchased a cute baby blanket for around $20 from here before and then taken it to get monogrammed to make the perfect personal gift for an expecting mother, on a major budget!

Organization from HomeGoods

  1. Organization
My favorite thing to purchase from this section is space saving hangers. HomeGoods has the best price on these type of hangers that I’ve seen anywhere else.

  1. Rugs
They usually have large area rugs for living or bedrooms hanging up on the back wall and kitchen, entry, and bathroom rugs in a different location. You may have to dig a little for the kitchen rugs and doormats but I can always find one that will work for the space I need, especially bathroom rugs!

I love scouring the bathroom section for towels, rugs, accessories, wall hooks, and storage ideas.  They have THE BEST towels in every color you could imagine and rugs to go with them. Their towels and rugs are very plush and spa-like!!!   Anytime I’ve ever bought bargain bathroom necessities from anywhere else, I’ve regretted it!
