Girls room design possibilities are endless! Read on for inspiration and sources to create a girly room every little girl dreams of!
Girls room design can be endless fun! There are so many directions you can go when decorating a girls room it can become overwhelming. When designing my daughter’s new room, I wanted to give her something she can grow up with. The last thing I want is to have to change her room again in a year or two because it’s “too baby”. However, I still want it to be as frilly and girly and precious as possible. I want this to be a room she will always remember and associate with happy memories.
Girls Room- The Wallpaper
I always like to start designing a room with wallpaper and build on the design from there. This room was no exception. The minute I laid eyes on this Ralph Lauren Matilda Ribbon Trellis wallpaper from DecoratorsBest, I knew we had to have it! It has such a classic, timeless feel to it and the pink color is a quintessential, little girl pink. Easy to install and affordably priced, this wallpaper will be a staple in her room for years to come! To purchase the wallpaper click here. The ribbon pattern is a soft blush color printed on a very subtle off-white background. The colors pair nicely with all white bedding and pink pillows. See below for the matching fabric I chose and bedding sources.
Girls Room Pillows
Let’s talk pillows. I wanted her to have a mature look when it came to pillows. We talk about how she is a “big girl” now and big girls make their beds every day. In doing so, she needs a bed that is easy to make and will look beautiful when she steps back to admire her efforts. I kept it simple with 2 euro shams, a long bolster pillow, and her toddler pillow that she sleeps on every night. I found THE PERFECT fabric to match the wallpaper and carry on the sweet girly theme of this room. I’ve linked them below.

Once again my fairy godmother seamstress, Paige from Sew Custom did an amazing job! She made all 3 pillow covers with piping and trim, stuffed the bolster pillow, and added the beautiful monogramming! I love working with her for all of my custom sewing needs. Her attention to detail is top notch and she’s very affordable for the quality product you receive in the end.
I love the white pom pom detail she added to this bolster pillow. Another precious girly touch!

Headboard + Cover
I’m all for purchasing furniture that we can grow into. Just like in designing my son’s room, I purchased this inexpensive headboard that she will one day grow into or can be used in another adult room in the house. Then, I had a headboard cover made to put over it using the same fabric as the euro shams, which makes the headboard more age appropriate for now and adds to the girly theme. The monogram in the middle is an extra detail that gives the room a personal touch. I love that it can be seen when the pillows are off the bed (which they often are) because it keeps the bed looking presentable even when it is unmade.
Another major perk to having a headboard cover is that its washable so if necessary, I can throw it in the washing machine and save the headboard from getting ruined. To purchase this headboard cover fabric click here.
The Bedding
I wanted the bedding to be a simple blank canvas so that the custom pillows would be the focus of the bed. Also, I wanted her to have something very soft and comfortable so that she would stay in her bed all night, but not cost a fortune because after all, she’s a toddler! I found this amazingly soft duvet cover for less than $25. To purchase the duvet cover click here. I also found this inexpensive bed skirt to go with it that has a slight ruffle at the bottom, keeping with the girly theme.
Little Girls Room Drapes
Thankfully, I saved the drapes from her nursery and brought them to our new house, not sure if I’d be able to reuse them but how lucky did I get!? The white bows on the drapes look adorable with the bows on the wallpaper. To purchase these drapes click here. The best part about them is that they have a black-out lining which makes for a very conducive sleep environment! I also reused the gold curtain rods from our bedroom in the last house and love the way they look in this room. I love combining old and new decor to make beautiful spaces!
The Rug
Adding this rug to the floor really ties all the shades of pink together and warms up the otherwise drab floor. It’s the perfect mixture of blush and a rose pink that compliment the various pinks in the wallpaper and fabric nicely. To purchase this rug click here.
