Baby Girl Nursery Mood Board

Hello everyone!

Today I have a really fun post to share with you about some ideas I’m thinking of for our new baby nursery.

First of all let me say this…

If you read my previous post about our gender reveal, you know that when we found out we were having a girl,  shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how we felt.  In fact, we are still in shock… all 3 of us, including our 3 year old son.  Actually, that’s not true, he’s handling it better than any of us.  My husband and I are the ones that are struggling.  We just thought for sure it was another boy.  We thought everything was going to stay the same, for the most part.  We were all “oh, we know what we’re doing with a boy and we have all the clothes and boy toys already so it will be so easy…”  WRONG!  The pink icing squished out of that reveal cake and our worlds were completely rocked.

Now that we’ve had a few weeks to digest this news and I’ve had some time to browse the “girl section” for the first time in some of my favorite stores, I’m warming up to the idea of bringing a little girl home.

Before I show you the mood board for this new nursery, I have to remind myself how much I REALLY enjoyed decorating our son’s nursery.  I loved picking out furniture, accessories, soft blues and gray colors, and “boy things” to make his nursery suitable for a little prince.  If you missed that post you can see it by clicking here.  I will always cherish that time in my life, for many reasons, but particularly because it was the first nursery I ever got to decorate and the first baby I had the pleasure of nesting for.  As miserable as I was feeling at the time, nothing will ever replace that experience for my me, my husband, and all of those around us who stepped in to help out!

It’s funny though how much my perspective and mood changed after receiving some pink clothes in the mail from my mom and browsing through the OTHER side of children’s stores.  Now that I’ve entered the other side, the “pink side”, I have learned there are SO many more options when it comes to a girl’s nursery.  There just are!  Colors, textures, ribbons, glitter, prints, etc. etc. etc.!  I could really get carried away!

For this baby girl nursery, I’m thinking I want to do a statement wall behind the crib with wallpaper in a really cool print and paint the other 3 walls  a really pretty pink color.  (sidenote…MAN are there a million shades of pink out there!)  I’m going to keep our existing gray crib and changing table/dresser but I’ve linked some similar ones in the source list below.  So the theme I guess you could say is “soft pinks, grays, and white”…..
