Fall decor is a great way to add charm and curb appeal to your home.  Decorate your porch with Fall decor to welcome your friends and neighbors with warm greetings.

Fall decor is my favorite!!! For instance, I love the warm autumn color tones, foliage, and variations of pumpkins!  I am excited that Fall is upon us so let’s get to decorating!  Check out some of my favorite Fall posts…

My Favorite Fall Posts

Today I have a fun DIY for you that involves creating a Fall window box for your door to replace the ever so traditional Fall wreath. In doing so, I partnered with JOANN  (#ad) to show you how I made an easy DIY window box for my door.  Additionally, I’ve included some other decor pieces at the bottom of this post to compliment your porch for Fall.

I want to change things up a little bit and add some different decor elements to the mix that I don’t normally use.  I’m trying to think outside the box more, no pun intended, and put a twist on things to make our porch look inviting and ready for Fall!

Materials You Will Need To Make a Window Box

  1. crate (this one is available online)  This is the one I used- available in store only
  2. pack of hooks
  3. 2 types of greenery (1 larger portion-I picked up some real eucalyptus from my local grocery store and 1 smaller portion from JOANN) *sidenote- if you’d rather use all faux florals in your window box, you can purchase several of these faux eucalyptus stems by clicking here to make up your larger portion of greenery
  4. faux berries- the ones I used are available in store only so head to your local JOANN and ask for the “Autumn Berries Pick”

JOANN #ad has all of your crafting needs for the holiday season.  Their mission is to inspire creativity amongst customers and help them find their happy place!  I was immediately inspired to do a Fall DIY after walking through my local JOANN and hope this tutorial helps you become inspired to create as well!

How To Make a Window Box

  1. First, hang the crate on your door using 4 hooks (see picture below).  2 hooks at the top and 2 hooks at the bottom to reinforce.  Follow directions on the pack of hooks for sticking to the surface of your door. Porch Decor for Fall
  2. Second, place the largest portion of greenery in the crate towards the back (see picture below) *sidenote- you may need to cut the stems down to get them all to fit and display properly in the crate
  3. Next, add the smaller portion of greenery in the crate right in front of the first portion (see picture below)
  4. Finally, place faux berries in front of all the greenery and arrange them so that they are evenly dispersed and hanging slightly over the front of the crate.

Additional Fall Touches

To complete the rest of my porch for Fall, I think these adorable copper lanterns from JOANN make a great statement while holding my remaining eucalyptus. In addition, this doormat serves as both a dirt catcher and a cheery greeter for guests!  Because, you can never have too many doormats!  Additionally, it matches our new door color, which is an added bonus!
