Rug pads have many benefits! Not only do they stop rugs from sliding, but they provide longevity for any household rug and create a sound barrier. Read on to see the many benefits of owning and using a rug pad!
Today I have something for you that will make your life easier and your home look better! Who wouldn’t’ want that?
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m always looking for ways to SIMPLIFY. So, lately I’ve been taking a good hard look around my house and asking/telling myself “What can we improve upon so that we get the most time and benefit out of our investments”. If we can’t improve upon something or it’s no longer working for us, we get rid of it! As a result, I’ve been purging, organizing and adding to my DIY list! I’m really making a conscious effort to only allow things to stay in our home that we can truly benefit from.
Addressing High Traffic Zones in a Home
The first problem area in my house that came to mind when adopting this new mantra is our back hallway/ “stop and drop”. It’s the highest traffic zone by far because we enter and exit from there several times a day. Two and a half years ago, I gave this hallway a complete makeover. If you missed that post you can read about it in two parts, here and here.
All of these changes made life 100% easier except one thing…………the rug.
The rug we have in this area slides around ALL the time because it isn’t heavy enough to lay still on the floor. So, every……single…….time……someone walks over it (which is ATLEAST 3 times a day) I have to go over and fix it, straighten it out, and rearrange it on the floor. SO ANNOYING. Who has the time or the patience to be doing that? NOT ME! So just when I was about to chunk that rug out the door because aint nobody got time for that, RugPadUSA contacted me about trying out one of their products.
Now….. before you can guess how this story ends, let me just preface by saying….I get product sponsorship inquiries every week. I turn down 80% of them because they either don’t fit within my niche or I don’t think I will like the products and I NEVER want to endorse a product I don’t like. This offer from RugPadUSA.com could not have come at a better time! Instead of throwing out my pretty, functional rug that was helping us keep all the dirt under control, I was able to place a rug pad underneath it from RugPadUSA to prevent it from slipping and moving around. It worked like a charm!
Is It Necessary to Have a Rug Pad?
- Every rug needs a rug pad!
- A pad extends the life of your rug by preventing the fibers from being crushed. The pad acts as a type of buffer between the hard surface below and the rug above
- A pad prevents dye transfer, marring, staining, and scratching to the floor or carpeting underneath
This is a sponsored post by RugPadUSA however, all opinions are 100% my own.
For more information see my disclosures page.
I chose the Super Lock Natural rug pad from RugpadUSA.com and I was able to select the exact size I needed in order to get one that fit under my rug perfectly! See sizing selection suggestions below.
The Super Lock Natural rug pad was very easy to install underneath my existing rug and now that I have it, I don’t even notice that its there until I step on the rug! That’s the other benefit of having a rug pad, not only does it keep the rug from slipping but it cushions your feet when you walk over it!
Should a Rug Pad be the Same Size as a Rug?
- A rug pad should be slightly smaller in size than the actual size of the rug.
- If the rug pad is slightly smaller than the rug, the edges of the rug will taper to the floor
- The rug pad should be about one inch less than your rug size on all four sides.
One of the reasons I decided to give this company a try is because they are based in the US out of NYC and all of their products are made, packed, and shipped out of their warehouse in Connecticut. Also, their mission is to offer high-quality, eco-friendly, sustainable, made in the USA alternatives to imported PVC and plastic rug pads that are often loaded with chemicals and can damage floors and finishes over time. You know I’m big on non-toxic items in our home!
See you can’t even tell it’s under there!?!
And we still have 1/2 an inch of room for the door to swing open over the rug without touching.
