Wallpaper for bar area…..checking that off the renovation list!  Wallpaper is a top priority when designing an in-home bar! With a fun, bold print and moody colors, you can dress up any bar and eliminate the need for going out!

Wallpaper for the bar area is a must in my opinion.  An in-home bar is one of those spaces in your home where you can break rules, go all out, reflect your personality all over the walls, and let your freak flag fly!!!  (I should have titled this blog post “let your freak flag fly” but I don’t think google would appreciate it so much)  Anyways, splurge outside your comfort zone when it comes to decorating your home bar, you won’t regret it! Lord knows I love a good wallpaper!

Designating Space for a Bar at Home

One of my husband’s very few requests when looking at houses and making our remodel plans was to have a bar somewhere in our new house.  He didn’t care where it was located in the house necessarily but it needed to have practical space for mixing cocktails and entertaining.  #priorities. Ofcourse, my first thought was, “Great idea! What wallpaper should we use?”  We love to entertain and host parties so a fun home bar is a necessity!

You don’t need a lot of room to create a home bar to fit your entertaining needs but it should have storage, counter space, and be easy on the eyes.  A sink and beverage fridge are an added bonus if you can pull that off too!

We chose to convert an old desk built-in area off the side of our kitchen into a bar.  Here’s a little before and after…

The Design

We started by replacing the old cabinets and tile countertops with new custom cabinets and a quartz countertop.  I chose to paint the bar cabinets the same dark color as the kitchen island because I love this moody paint color!  (Iron Ore By Benjamin Moore) Then came the wallpaper to spice it all up!  We don’t have a ton of wall space around the bar to cover so I could get away with a really fun pattern! I also found some pretty gold trays to house all the goodies to leave out for our guests.   Help yourself people!  More ice is in the garage…

The Wallpaper I Chose

After ordering a million samples and consulting my closest friends for months, I finally landed on this wallpaper from Decorators Best by Lee Jofa.  It ties together our dark, grayish-black cabinets and the gold accents of the cocktail trays. I love that it has a bold, funky pattern!  In some ways, it’s an instant mood booster when I walk into the kitchen, which is exactly what I wanted!  My goal is to create an inviting place for people to feel comfortable enough to walk up and make a drink without having to ask.  100% fun vibes, no stress.  Just like in an actual bar or restaurant but in the comfort of your home!
