A kitchen sink completes every kitchen. Choosing the right kitchen sink can make or break an entire kitchen. Read on to see what kitchen sink I chose and why I’m 100% happy with it!
Choosing our kitchen sink for the remodel was a very important decision that could make or break our entire kitchen. A kitchen sink is something you use every single day, multiple times a day. I had a list of criteria that I needed our sink to have in order to meet our family’s needs as well as fit nicely with the design of our new kitchen…
My Criteria
- Durable- I don’t want anything that scratches or stains easily
- Large- We cook a lot, especially during the Fall with football and hunting season, so I need something big that can hold large pots and pans
- Farmhouse- I love the farmhouse look and need something with an apron front to fit the cabinet design I chose
- White- I want something white that will blend in with our new white cabinets
I kept this criteria list in mind when I started researching kitchen sinks. My number one characteristic on the criteria list was “durability”. I had this feature in the forefront of my mind because of all the white farmhouse sinks I’ve seen and used that scratch so easily! White farmhouse sinks are very trendy these days for several reasons. They are beautiful and highly functional due to their large capacity. However, have you ever seen a white farmhouse sink that wasn’t scratched up on the inside?
Most farmhouse sinks are white and made out of porcelain and fireclay material. Take a fork or metal pan to the bottom of that and you get scratches! My goal is to avoid having a beautiful, new all white kitchen with a brand new sleek scratched up kitchen sink. I can’t think of anything worse than to spend time and money on something brand new and end up with something damaged. Woof!

My Personal Experience with our Blanco IKON 33″ Farmhouse Sink
After actually using our sink and putting it to the test: cooking, cleaning, scrubbing, soaking, etc. I am pleased to report that it does not have one scratch on it! I also love how deep and wide the bowl is because I can fit a full sized frying pan down inside of it plus dishes with no problems! At first, I was nervous about the matte finish of the Silgranit material because it’s not the same as a traditional, shiny porcelain or fireclay white farmhouse sink. However, I could not be happier with our choice and think that it complements the white cabinets in our kitchen nicely! The IKON 33″ Single Bowl Apron Front Farmhouse Sink is a contemporary take on a classic style. Blanco did an amazing job of combining beauty, style, and durability into a revolutionary sink that is the first of its kind!
Overall, I am SO thankful that I got to partner with Blanco on this portion of our remodel. I am even more glad that I found the patented technology of Silgranit sinks and can’t wait to show you the one we put in our laundry room too!
