Kids Christmas trees are a fun way to spread holiday cheer throughout your entire home, starting with the kids!  Get into the holiday spirit by decorating a fun, kid friendly Christmas tree!

Kids Christmas trees was high up on my decorating priority list this year! After getting a beautiful new Christmas tree last year, I promised my 4 year old son that he could have his own tree in his room.  Of course, he reminded me of this promise once a month for the last 11 months!

Not only did my little prince get his very own Christmas tree, it was only fair that his baby sister get one too! So, now we have two adorable kids Christmas trees in our home and I could not be more excited to share them with you!

I am so excited to partner with JOANN to decorate these magical kids Christmas trees.  Hanging ornaments with my son and daughter (yes, even the baby tried to help, which was precious) was even more fun than decorating our big tree in the living room!  Because, it was a great opportunity to see my son’s personality really shine and it gave him something to take pride in.

Above all, he feels so special now that he has his very own ornaments and he absolutely loves them!  All of his ornaments reflect his personal interests like animals and hunting.

Here are a few closeups of some of his ornaments with a source list and shoppable links below.  JOANN is having some amazing deals right now on all of their holiday decor……

My daughter is too young to pick out her own ornaments so I just selected a few pink ones that I thought matched her room, hints the pink flamingo theme!  Here are some closeups of the ornaments on her tree and a source list with shoppable links….

My favorite part about decorating these trees was doing the ribbon!  In addition, I have a ribbon trick to show you that I learned from my friend Pollie that will save you time and money….

SUPPLIES FOR RIBBON ON KIDS CHRISTMAS TREE

  • 1-2 thick rolls of your favorite ribbon with wired edges (amount varies depending on the size of your tree) Sidenote: doesn’t have to be the same ribbon.  you can mix and match patterns if you want!
  • scissors
  • stapler
  • staples

HOW TO ACHIEVE THAT WOVEN RIBBON LOOK

  1. Cut all of your ribbon into equal 12 inch sections
  2. Staple the sections together in pairs of two placing one on top of the other.  Staple once at the top and once at the bottom (see pic below)
  3. Gently pull the ribbons apart very slightly from the middle, keeping the staples in place. However, do not pull the ribbon too far apart to where you see a hole between the two pieces.
  4. Place each stapled pair of ribbons inside desired branches of your tree (see pic below), evenly spread about the tree.
  5. Fluff accordingly as needed.

I used this ribbon trick for both of my kids Christmas trees and the tree in our living room and LOVE the way they turned out!!!  I will never decorate another tree with ribbon again without using this ribbon trick!  It saves a ton of time not having to fight with a long strand of ribbon AND you also end up saving on the amount of ribbon used!  That’s a win-win in my book!

Here is a closeup of the tree so you can see the full “woven” effect of the ribbon.  I just love the way it looks….

JOANN has a great selection of holiday ribbons with tons of different patterns and colors!

In addition, they also have some great holiday sprays, stems, and garlands to add to your tree as “fillers”.  These are a few little fillers I added to both of the kids Christmas trees to fill in some of those spaces between branches and make the tree look even more whimsical….

I absolutely loved decorating these kids Christmas trees with my son and can’t wait for my daughter to join in the tradition with us as she gets older.  This is something we will keep doing every year together!

Here’s a look at each of their trees one more time…..
