Week 3 was all about getting the painting done. I was super anxious to check this item off of my “to-do” list because not only was it the most invasive part of the whole makeover, but I knew it was going to produce the biggest change! I could not wait to get rid of that dark paint so that we no longer feel like we are living in a cave!!!!!

For this painting project I used Behr paint products and could not be happier with the results….
HOW TO GO FROM DARK TO WHITE WALLS
- One coat of Premium Primer by KILZ
- One thick coat of Behr Marquee paint in White Mocha
MY REVEIW OF BEHR MARQUEE PAINT
- covers very well- I was impressed with the coverage of this paint! My bedroom (3 walls and a tray ceiling) only required 1 1/4 gallons of paint (after a thin coat of primer). That’s AMAZING considering how dark my existing walls were.
- easy to apply- This paint has a thick consistency so it does not drip from your brush easily and goes on very smooth when applied to the wall. Also, its very easy to pull the brush and paint across in a straight line while doing trim work and “cutting corners”.
- low odor- I didn’t have to open any windows or doors to air out the smell. There was a very low odor left after all the painting was done and it dissipated on its own within a few hours. We were sleeping in our bedroom that same night with no windows open and no headaches!
- blocks stains-This is CRUCIAL when you have kids! Their grimy hand prints are all over my walls no matter how hard I try to avoid it
- priced well- each gallon of Behr Marquee paint saved me $14 per gallon verses the brand I was using. That can add up quickly, especially if you are painting an entire house!!
- great colors!!- Behr has SO MANY beautiful white paint colors.
Here’s a good “before” picture of what our room looked like before painting the walls white….
Look how dark this room was!!!!!!!!!! And this picture was even taken with the blinds all the way up. (insert forehead slapping emoji). YUCK!!!!
And look at the room now that it’s been painted in White Mocha by Behr Marquee….
AMAZING!!!! So much brighter, cleaner, and fresh! I will never paint another bedroom dark and I will never overspend on paint again!
Well that’s all for today! I cannot wait for next week when the wallpaper goes in!!!!!!!!

This looks amazing! White is definitely one of my go-to colors. Our house was painted all cream when we moved in, so my husband is confused why I painted “white” walls with DIFFERENT white. 🙂 The right shade makes all of the difference, and I have never used that color before-but it looks great in your bedroom!
1st OMGEEE the difference paint color makes! seriously night and day. I love the soft white. Secondly yeah, Behr Marquee Paint is AWESOME. The first time I used it in my son’s room I couldn’t believe how well it covered AND holds up!
Thank you so much Kenyatta! I am a Behr Marquee for life girl now!
This is such a beautiful white! Nice choice.
