Bedroom Furniture That is Beautiful and Affordable

Bedroom furniture can make or break the design of a bedroom!  It’s something you have to live with every single day of your life!  Select the perfect bedroom furniture that brightens up your space and provides comfort and function at the same time.

Bedroom furniture was the decision I dwelled on most for this project.  I debated between upholstering our existing furniture or starting over.  After all of my research and price comparing, I decided it was best to start fresh!

After scouring the web and Pinterest for bedroom furnituret, I came to the realization that there are SO many affordable headboard options these days that it was just too good to pass up buying a new headboard.  I was able to purchase everything I needed (2 nightstands, California King headboard, 2 lamps, drapery rods, fabric, and a bed frame) online and have it shipped directly to my door!   .

ALL of the stuff I ordered arrived on the same day at the same time of course so I was scrambling to find a place for it all.  I managed to pack it all in between the playroom and my closet, what a mess that was!

For Week 2, we accomplished the unboxing and putting together of our new bedroom furniture.  I was also able to take down our old curtains and drapery rods which really brightened up the space already.  “My boys” (the hubs and our four year old) put together the bed for me and a friend of mine helped me move the nightstands in to place that came pre-assembled….

It feels like a whole new room already just from updating those 2 pieces of furniture!  I absolutely LOVE this headboard!

Things to Consider When Selecting a Headboard

• Size- when searching for a headboard, go ahead and filter your search by size first because if they don’t have the size you need to fit your mattress, there is no point in falling in love with a headboard that won’t work for you in the end
• Color-think about what color would look best with your wall color and existing furniture (if this is a factor).  Most websites will let you filter by color too during your search
• Material-consider whether or not you need something durable, stain resistant, wipeable, etc.
• Frame- something very important to consider is do you have a frame already or do you need a bed with a footboard and rails?  If you already have a frame that holds your mattress you will only need a headboard.  If you do not have a frame, consider whether you would like to purchase a headboard and footboard or just a headboard.  Beds that include a footboard come with rails so an additional frame is not necessary.

We did not want a footboard this time.  Our old bed (click here to see the dreaded “before” pic with our old bed) had a footboard and I lost count how many times my husband and I ran smack dab into it with our knees on accident.  That thing was dangerous!!  So this time I wanted an open ended bed with no footboard.  This meant that I had to purchase a frame separately though.  Below are the links to the headboard and frame that I purchased….

      My Review of This Bed Frame

• VERY easy to put together- the instructions were very clear and it came with all the right tools and parts.
• made of durable material with no sharp edges
• shipped quickly and arrived non damaged
• great price
• fits California King box spring and mattress nicely
• holes are not compatible with screws that came with the headboard I purchased separately.  So if you order this frame with the same headboard I purchased, you will have to purchase separate screws to fit.

      Bedroom Furniture from Amazon-My Review of This Headboard

• VERY soft material.  Feels like velvet but looks like a linen/cotton blend
• easy to put together
• affordably priced
• looks just like the picture advertises

I absolutely love our new nightstands too!!!!!  The biggest problem I had with our old nightstands is that they were too small!  The new ones are taller and wider with an extra drawer so we have more storage all around.

Things to Consider When Purchasing a Nightstand

• quantity- How many do you need?  Make sure there are multiples if you need more than one before you fall in love with a certain nightstand
• color- what color is your bed and other furniture in the room.  Find something that matches your existing furniture
• storage- how much storage do you need?
• durability- will you be placing a drink on the top and moving stuff around on it constantly? If so, select a nightstand that is made of a durable material
• size- how tall is your bed/mattress?  Make sure the top of the nightstand is level with or above the top of your mattress.

Bedroom Furniture from Wayfair- My Review of These Nightstands

• they look WAY more expensive in person than they actually cost
• shipped fast
• drawers are big and lined with pretty raw wood on the inside
• have “no slam” hinges
• hardware is beautiful and good quality
• top scratches easily so I will probably have glass cut for the tops
• great size!  Not too big and not too small

All in all, even with the minor screw mishap, I am very pleased with our new furniture!!!  I cannot wait for next week when the walls get painted!!!  I’m going to dream about it every single night until it’s done!
