We spend A LOT of time at this table, so I had to keep my decor simple in this space.  We eat dinner together every night at 6pm and my son and I have breakfast together here every morning.  I know one day these meals will be few and far between so I’m trying to enjoy them as much as possible will I can!  When decorating, I tend to lean more towards neutrals and whites but our son is still a toddler and just now realizing what Christmas is so I wanted to make sure I incorporated some traditional pieces this year.  I wanted this room to be a joyful place that he would remember since we spend so much time here.  I thought this plaid runner from Hobby Lobby was the quintessential piece I was looking for!

Behind the kitchen table I made a little Hot Cocoa Bar, mainly for my husband and son because they are the hot cocoa junkies in this family!  I have to say, this adorable sign from Downgracelane has encouraged me to ride the hot cocoa train too!  It is SOOO adorable when my husband comes home from work and wants to drink hot chocolate by the fire with our little boy.  They love to drink out of our reindeer mugs from Pottery Barn.  We received a set of these as a wedding gift and friends and family members have added to our collection ever since!  The joy of Christmas through a child’s eyes makes my heart melt!

Our living room is my favorite room in the house to decorate because of the Christmas tree and fireplace mantel.  I grew up most of my life having a real tree but my son and I are allergic to them so we have a fake tree now. We purchased it from Hobby Lobby several years ago on sale for 50% off.  I LOVE having a fake tree because you can do so much with it and leave it up as long as you want!  I usually don’t take my tree down until after the New Year.

I REALLY want a flocked tree.  It wasn’t in the budget for this year so instead I tried to make it look as white and joyful as possible by sticking cotton inside the branches and using tons of white ornaments.  I found these amazing snowball ornaments from Hobby Lobby (see closeup below) and LOVE the way they look with the cotton.  Our fur tree skirt is new.  I was really in the mood for something furry and fluffy so when I saw this one at Homegoods I knew it had to come home with me!

The mantel gave me a bit of a fit this year because I really wanted to do something different but the elk horns are an absolute staple in our home so I knew I had to work around them somehow.  I decided to flock the pre-lit garland I already owned with a can of fake snow from Hobby Lobby.  I love how fluffy and bright it looks now!  I also flocked the tall white branches behind the garland that I have leaning against the wall.  My goal was to create a joyful winter wonderland and I’m very pleased with the way it turned out!

BEDROOM

If you follow me on Instagram you already know that this was my very first year to ever decorate our bedroom.  I cannot tell how much fun I had doing this room!!!  How is that possible that I enjoyed decorating our bedroom more than the tree?  I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to walk in our room to put laundry away and see these bright festive pillows made up on our crisp white bedding!  This will not be the last time our master bedroom gets dressed up for the holidays!  I’m adding it to my decorating list from now on…

 CHINA CABINET

If you’ve seen any of our home tours in the past you’ll remember that our house has an open floor plan.  Which means our china cabinet sits in both the living room and the dining room.  I always feels obligated to dress this puppy up for the holidays because its so large and in charge (hints why it could hold the big old sled).   Plus, styling selves are very therapeutic to me!  I could move decor around on a set of shelves all day long!  I had a lot of fun with this piece this year.  I tried to keep it light, bright, and white like the rest of the room…
