First, let me preface by saying, I have never actually hosted an official Thanksgiving at my house before. We are still in that window of time where our parents are hosting Thanksgiving for us, and what a blessing that is! However, every year it makes me think about when my time to host comes, what will I do?
Hire a caterer?
Escape to Mexico?
Just kidding! Here are my 3 Thanksgiving Host Ideas…
Thanksgiving Host Idea # 1 – Have A Fall Floral Arrangement for a Centerpiece
Whether you are going to actually be eating a Thanksgiving meal around your table or just walking past it daily, have a Fall-ish flower arrangement as your centerpiece to give your family and guests something pretty to look at! When making a flower arrangement, I like to incorporate more than just flowers. My favorite element to add is fruit! This year I purchased sunflowers, (my favorite Fall flower), pomegranates, and cranberries, all from the grocery store and made them into a colorful centerpiece…
Steps to Make This Fall Floral Arrangement…
- First, I trimmed the sunflowers down to the desired length and put them in a clear rectangle vase so that I could fill it with cranberries.
- Second, I stuck 2 pomegranates onto BBQ skewers and slipped them in the vase with the sunflowers. (sidenote-each pomegranate required 2 skewers because of their weight)
- Lastly, I filled in the empty space between the sunflower stems with cranberries and tada…
Not only does it look pretty and vibrant, you can reuse the pomegranates and cranberries at a later date in other Fall recipes!
Thanksgiving Host Idea #2 – Incorporate COPPER into your decor
Copper makes me think of Fall because of the beautiful orange color. I incorporated copper into my decor by using these Moscow mule cups my husband gave me! (to shop for them click here)
Ways to incorporate copper into your Fall theme
a copper bowl for serving food in
a copper pitcher to serve water or tea, etc.
Thanksgiving Host Idea #3: Serve a Signature Cocktail
I always love trying new and interesting cocktails. The best parties I’ve ever been to have all had pre-made signature drinks for everyone to try! In particular, the ones with a fun name! Don’t forget to give your signature cocktail a fun name!
